Goryeong-gun, Gyeongbuk Province (Governor Lee Nam-chul) received the 'Best Institution Award' for the Atopy and Asthma Prevention Management Project at the '2023 Gyeongsangbuk-do Atopy and Asthma Prevention Management Project Performance Competition' hosted by Gyeongbuk Province, held in Gyeongju on the 7th.
The evaluation of the Atopy and Asthma Prevention Management Project is conducted through a document review targeting 25 public health centers in Gyeongbuk Province. Awards are given to cities and counties with outstanding performance to promote the activation of the project through discovering and sharing best practices and to commend their efforts.
Goryeong-gun selected and operated 19 Atopy and Asthma Safe Schools targeting kindergartens, daycare centers, and elementary, middle, and high schools within the jurisdiction. They conducted education and publicity for students, teachers, parents, and residents, and contributed to raising awareness of allergic diseases among residents through atopic dermatitis prevention puppet shows and puppet performances.
In particular, as a best practice, the 'Visiting Health Lecture for Elderly Asthma' was highly evaluated by conducting education and an asthma awareness survey.
The Goryeong-gun Public Health Center (Director Kim Gon-su) emphasized that they will continue to actively operate Atopy and Asthma Safe Schools so that students and parents in Goryeong-gun can live safely from allergic diseases, and will also focus on promoting and educating adults and elderly residents on methods for preventing and managing allergic diseases.
