Dong-A University Fashion Design Department Wins Consecutive Awards at Regular Art Costume Exhibition and K-Fashion Presentation Contest

'Re:vive' Theme, Fashion Revival Reflecting the Times

Awards Presented in Fashion Photography and Film Categories at Contest

The Department of Fashion Design at Dong-A University (President Lee Hae-woo) will showcase its skills by participating in the award ceremony of the 26th Regular Art Costume Exhibition and the 2nd K-Fashion Presentation Contest hosted by the Korea Fashion Form Association.

The Korea Fashion Form Association (President Lee Shin-young, professor of the Department of Fashion Design at Dong-A University) was established in 1998 and elevated to a corporation in 2017.

The theme of this year’s regular art costume exhibition, held until the 8th at the first-floor complex cultural space of the Busan Fashion Biz Center, is ‘Re:vive,’ representing a vibrant revival of fashion and sustainability toward the future in line with the new era’s trends.

This exhibition features professors and graduate students from Dong-A University, Kyungpook National University, Gyeongsang National University, Kyungsung University, Kyung Hee University, Changwon National University, Dongseo University, Silla University, Ewha Womans University, Jeju National University, and Drexel University in the USA. Additionally, designer Bae Yong and representatives from fashion-related industries participated, presenting works that hope to express the fusion of tradition, modernity, and the future, as well as communication between academia and industry.

The ‘K-Fashion Presentation Contest,’ now in its second year, was co-hosted by the Korea Fashion Form Association and the Busan Fashion Biz Center, featuring competitions in fashion illustration, fashion photography, and fashion film.

In this contest, Seo Ji-eun, a student from Dong-A University’s Department of Fashion Design, won the Excellence Award in the fashion photography category, while students Hwang Dong-hyun and Jo Sung-min received special selection awards in the same category.

Established as a representative contest in the fashion field, the ‘K-Fashion Presentation Contest’ is sponsored by Sejung Co., Ltd., which provided a total prize money of 3 million KRW including the grand prize, and the Busan Textile Fashion Industry Association supported the grand prize of 1.5 million KRW and operational assistance. The Busan Design Promotion Agency also awarded special selection prizes.

At the award ceremony, Lee Sung-geun, Senior Vice Chairman of the Busan Textile Fashion Industry Association, Ryu Jong-woo, Executive Vice Chairman of the Busan Textile Fashion Industry Association, and Kim Yong, Director of the Busan Textile Fashion Industry Association Center, attended. The winning works will be exhibited until the 8th at the first-floor complex cultural space of the Busan Fashion Biz Center.

Professor Lee Shin-young stated, “We will strive to contribute to the fashion industry through the path of convergence and harmony among industry, academia, and government.”
