The Supreme Court held the final appeal hearing on the 7th for former Korea Western Power CEO Kim Byung-sook and others, who were indicted on charges of violating the Industrial Safety and Health Act and causing death by negligence at work, in connection with the death of Taean Thermal Power Plant worker Kim Yong-gyun. After the original court ruling of not guilty, the late Kim Yong-gyun's mother, Kim Mi-sook, and others held a press conference in front of the Supreme Court to protest the unfairness of the verdict.
