Osan-si Daewon 2·Sinjang 2-dong, Business Starts January 2 Next Year

Division from Existing Daewon and Sinjangdong

Osan City in Gyeonggi Province announced on the 6th that it will open the Daewon 2-dong and Sinjang 2-dong Administrative Welfare Centers on January 2nd next year and commence operations.

Osan-si Daewon 2·Sinjang 2-dong, Business Starts January 2 Next Year

The opening of the Daewon 2-dong and Sinjang 2-dong Administrative Welfare Centers is due to the subdivision of the existing Daewon-dong and Sinjang-dong caused by population overcrowding. Daewon-dong will be divided into Daewon 1-dong and Daewon 2-dong based on Dongbu-daero, and Sinjang-dong will be divided into Sinjang 1-dong and Sinjang 2-dong based on the Line 1 railway.

Accordingly, Daewon-dong, which currently has a population of about 64,000, will be split into approximately 45,000 in Daewon 1-dong and 19,000 in Daewon 2-dong. Sinjang-dong, with a population of about 60,000, will be divided into about 36,000 in Sinjang 1-dong and 24,000 in Sinjang 2-dong.

The city expects that with future development plans, the population of Daewon 2-dong will increase to about 53,000, and Sinjang 2-dong to about 42,000.

Once the subdivision is completed, Osan City will expand and reorganize from the six administrative dongs (Jungang, Daewon, Namchon, Sinjang, Sema, and Chopyeong-dong) that have been in operation since the city was promoted in 1989 to eight administrative dongs.

A city official expressed expectations that "this subdivision will enable proactive responses to citizens' administrative and welfare needs and improve the quality of life for citizens through the provision of high-quality services."

Meanwhile, the Daewon 2-dong Administrative Welfare Center is located on the 1st floor of The Terrace Square in Gohyeon-dong, and the Sinjang 2-dong Administrative Welfare Center is located on the 3rd and 4th floors of Leaders Plaza in Sucheong-dong.
