Police: "32 victims of Jeoncheongjo fraud, damage amount 3.7 billion KRW... Nam Hyunhee under additional investigation"

Jeon Cheong-jo (27), who was known as the remarriage partner of former national fencing representative Nam Hyun-hee, has been brought to trial on charges including fraud, with the confirmed damage caused by Jeon’s fraud reaching nearly 3.7 billion KRW.

A Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency official stated on the 4th regarding Jeon’s fraud case, "So far, 32 victims have been identified, with damages amounting to approximately 3.69 billion KRW."


The police also summoned Nam again on the 1st for additional questioning to verify suspicions of her involvement. This was Nam’s third time being questioned by the police, following sessions on the 6th and 8th of last month. During the investigation on the 8th, a confrontation interrogation with Jeon was conducted. The police are continuing investigations including forensic analysis of Nam’s mobile phone and inquiries into other related parties. A police official said, "If necessary, we may question (Nam) several more times."


The Bentley vehicle voluntarily submitted by Nam to the police was seized last month under provisional seizure measures. Along with this, the police confiscated 44 items including jewelry and luxury handbags. The seized items are reported to be worth a total of approximately 110 million KRW.


Earlier, on the 29th of last month, the prosecution indicted Jeon and accomplices on charges including violation of the Act on the Aggravated Punishment of Specific Economic Crimes (fraud), forgery and use of forged official documents, and forgery and use of forged private documents.
