On the 30th, the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety (MFDS) announced that, following inspections conducted jointly with local governments on a total of 84 livestock product private brand manufacturers, two products sold as PB items in convenience stores ? ▲Bagel Greek Yogurt ▲Kaimak Greek Yogurt ? were found to have Escherichia coli group bacteria exceeding the permissible limits.

Accordingly, the MFDS immediately recalled and disposed of all the affected products. Furthermore, the local government will take administrative actions against Q company, the manufacturer located in Goyang-si, Gyeonggi-do, and will reinspect within six months to verify improvements.

The MFDS stated, "We will continue to strengthen safety management of livestock products widely consumed by the public," adding, "We will take strict measures against intentional illegal activities and do our best to create a safe food environment."

Meanwhile, Greek yogurt is 2 to 3 times more concentrated than regular yogurt, containing higher amounts of protein, calcium, vitamin B2, and vitamin B12, making it popular among dieters.

Consistent consumption of Greek yogurt not only helps with weight loss but also prolongs satiety, reducing the risk of snacking or binge eating. Its firm, tofu-like texture with high viscosity makes it ideal for spreading on bread or using as a sauce.

Additionally, Greek yogurt contains a large amount of probiotics, bacteria that aid overall intestinal activity. Regular intake of Greek yogurt can improve digestion, boost immunity, and alleviate insomnia. There are also claims that consistent consumption helps improve mood and enhance skin health.

■ Homemade Greek Yogurt Recipe
- Mix 500㎖ of milk with 75㎖ of probiotic drink, then cover the bowl with plastic wrap.
- Place the bowl containing the milk in an electric rice cooker and keep it warm for about 40 minutes.
- After warming, turn off the rice cooker and leave it at room temperature for about 7 hours.
- Prepare a strainer lined with filter paper and an empty bowl to collect the whey.
- Pour the fermented yogurt onto the filter paper and refrigerate for about 4 hours to allow moisture to drain, resulting in tofu-like homemade Greek yogurt.
