Suncheon City Council Deliberates and Approves Supplementary Budget and Ordinance Proposals

The 273rd 2nd Regular Session 2nd Plenary Meeting

7 Items Including the Partial Amendment of the Ordinance Passed as Originally Proposed

The Suncheon City Council in Jeollanam-do (Chairman Jeong Byeong-hoe) announced on the 29th that it held the 2nd plenary session of the 2nd regular meeting of the 273rd session and deliberated and resolved a total of seven agenda items, including the 3rd supplementary budget for 2023.

At the plenary session, seven items, including the partially amended ordinance on the establishment of the Suncheon City administrative organization revised due to the reorganization of the Suncheon Bay Management Center following the end of the expo, were approved as originally proposed.

In particular, the ‘3rd supplementary budget for 2023’ included an increase of 92.3 billion KRW, finalizing a total budget of 1.6774 trillion KRW. This budget, submitted by the Mayor of Suncheon, includes 4.5 billion KRW for the reconstruction of the Gyo-ryang Bridge and 3 billion KRW for supporting city buses, including financial support for the bus transportation business.

Chairman Jeong ordered the executive branch to make efforts to minimize the amount of explicitly carried-over budgets and unused funds based on budget education by department and sharing of budget execution-related information, and to ensure that the council reporting procedures for major city administration matters are not omitted.

Going forward, the Suncheon City Council plans to conduct the 2023 administrative audit from November 30 to December 10, and from December 15 to 19, the relevant standing committees and the special budget and settlement committee will review and resolve general agenda items such as the 2024 budget and ordinances.
