Song Young-gil "Regret over Hwang Unha ruling... Han Dong-hoon should face stronger punishment for 'ordered investigation'"

Former Democratic Party leader Song Young-gil expressed "regret" over the first trial sentencing of Democratic Party lawmaker Hwang Un-ha, who was indicted for the Moon Jae-in administration Blue House's 'Ulsan mayoral election interference suspicion,' to three years in prison, and raised his voice saying that the 'directed investigation' against him is also inevitably punishable.

On the 29th, Song said on his social media (SNS), "I regret the verdict on the Ulsan case. I believe that a proper judgment will be made again in the appellate court."

On the same day, the 21-3 Criminal Division of the Seoul Central District Court sentenced lawmaker Hwang, who was indicted on charges including violation of the Public Official Election Act, to three years in prison. The suspicion of interference in the Ulsan mayoral election is that before the 2018 local elections, the Blue House systematically intervened to help the election of former Mayor Song Cheol-ho, known as a longtime friend of former President Moon, violating the Public Official Election Act.

Regarding this, former leader Song raised his voice, saying, "Are you criminally punishing lawmaker Hwang with the investigation of former Ulsan Mayor Kim Gi-hyeon, who is full of local corruption suspicions? Then what about the de facto directed investigations by President Yoon Suk-yeol and Minister Han Dong-hoon against former and current Democratic Party leaders Song Young-gil and Lee Jae-myung?" He added, "Isn't even stronger punishment inevitable?"

He also said, "Power lasts at most five years. The truth will surely be revealed, and those responsible will pay the price."
