A man in his 30s accused of killing two cats by throwing them out of an officetel has been brought to trial.
The Criminal Division 2 of Changwon District Prosecutors' Office in Gyeongnam announced on the 27th that Mr. A, who is charged with violating the Animal Protection Act, has been prosecuted without detention.
According to the prosecution, Mr. A is suspected of throwing two cats he was raising out of the window from the 12th floor of an officetel in Naeoe-dong, Gimhae City, at around 4:40 a.m. on June 24, with about a 2-minute interval, causing their deaths.

The cats fell in front of a convenience store on the 1st floor, 42 meters below, and died shortly after. Citizens who witnessed the incident reported it to the police.
It is known that Mr. A committed this act while intoxicated and without any particular reason.
He consistently denied the charges, but the police judged that Mr. A committed the crime based on witness statements who saw him throwing the cats.
Earlier, the animal protection civic group Animal Rights Action KARA submitted a complaint to the police against Mr. A, stating, “The cat was holding onto the person's arm with its legs, but he removed each leg by hand and then threw it down, according to a witness,” and “The act of causing death to cats in a cruel manner is a crime and deserves punishment.”
