Singer and actor Cha Eun-woo was present at a Japanese awards ceremony where a stabbing incident occurred.

According to major foreign media reports on the 24th, a stabbing incident took place at the 'MTV Video Music Awards Japan 2023' event held in Yokohama the previous afternoon.


As a result of the incident, a woman in her 40s, identified as Ms. A, sustained serious injuries to her abdomen and was transported to a hospital. It was reported that Ms. A was conscious while receiving treatment at the hospital.


Meanwhile, it was revealed that Cha Eun-woo had attended the awards ceremony, raising concerns among fans. In response, Cha Eun-woo's agency Fantagio stated, "The incident occurred after Cha Eun-woo had already left," confirming that he was unharmed.


Before the incident, Cha Eun-woo was announced as the winner of the 'Global Icon Award' at the ceremony. Upon receiving the award, Cha Eun-woo expressed, "Thanks to the fans who send so much support and love, I was able to receive this valuable award," adding, "I will show you a wonderful side of me to repay you all."


Born in 1997, Cha Eun-woo debuted in the entertainment industry in 2014 with the film My Brilliant Life. He then successfully debuted as a singer in 2016 with the group Astro. Currently, Cha Eun-woo is connecting with viewers through the MBC drama Love All Play.


Meanwhile, at this year's MTV Video Music Awards Japan, not only Cha Eun-woo but also K-POP artists stood out. Specifically, ▲ NewJeans (Best Buzz Award) ▲ The Boyz (Best Asia Group) ▲ Stray Kids (Best Group Video - International) ▲ NiziU (Best Pop Video) were honored with awards.
