The Hwasun Scholarship Foundation (Chairman Gu Bok-gyu) announced on the 24th that it held a board meeting on the 23rd and decided to select multi-child scholarship recipients from Hwasun County and provide scholarships.
The multi-child scholarship of the Hwasun Scholarship Foundation is a newly implemented program for the second half of this year, established to reduce the educational expenses burden on multi-child families and to participate in Hwasun County’s population policy.
A total of 377 students applied after the announcement targeting high school and university students from multi-child families with three or more siblings including the applicant. After reviewing address requirements and overlapping scholarship benefits, 360 students who met the criteria were selected.
Each of the 300 high school students received 500,000 KRW, and each of the 60 university students received 1,000,000 KRW, providing a total of 210 million KRW in scholarships.
Additionally, the board resolved the 2024 business plan (draft) to expand scholarship eligibility by changing the selection method from once in the first half of the year to twice a year, in both the first and second halves.
Gu Bok-gyu, the county governor, said, “The county is taking the lead in supporting the educational expenses burden caused by raising multiple children to achieve the effect of nurturing future talents and advancing education,” and added, “We will continue to devise various measures to promote scholarship projects that align with county administration.”
Meanwhile, the Hwasun Scholarship Foundation was established in 2009 and has provided scholarships totaling 2.199 billion KRW to 3,074 recipients so far, striving to foster local talent.
