Hyundai Motor and Amazon announced on the 16th (local time) that they have signed a partnership agreement with these details. Jose Munoz, Hyundai Motor's Global Chief Operating Officer (COO) and President of the North America branch, revealed the partnership with Amazon at the LA Auto Show, stating, "Customers know how easy it is to purchase products on Amazon, and they want the same convenience when buying a car."
Accordingly, customers will be able to search for vehicles available for purchase in their region on the Amazon website by model, color, and features, and proceed with the purchase process online. Afterwards, they can either pick up the vehicle at a nearby dealership or have it delivered at their preferred time. However, the final seller will be the dealer, not Amazon.
Until now, Amazon has operated a digital showroom on its site for customers interested in cars. However, Hyundai is the first to enable direct purchases. Andy Jassy, Amazon's Chief Executive Officer (CEO), said, "Hyundai is a very innovative company that shares Amazon's passion for making customers' lives better and more convenient every day," and expressed expectations that "this partnership will allow customers to easily purchase vehicles online."
Along with this, as part of the partnership between the two companies, Hyundai will apply Alexa to next-generation models starting in 2025. Additionally, Amazon Web Services (AWS) has been selected as the cloud service provider.
