Gyeonggi-do Public Construction Support Center Conducts 215 Preliminary Reviews of This Year's Project Plans

Gyeonggi-do Public Construction Support Center Conducts 215 Preliminary Reviews of This Year's Project Plans Gyeonggi Provincial Government

The Gyeonggi-do Public Construction Support Center has reviewed 215 project plans in advance this year to improve the quality of public construction projects. The center is an institution operated under consignment by Gyeonggi Housing & Urban Corporation (GH).

Established in January 2020 under the "Gyeonggi-do Public Construction Service Support Ordinance," the center’s role is to have related experts pre-review public construction projects with construction costs exceeding 100 million KRW, including ▲project plans ▲appropriateness of the target site ▲connectivity with surroundings ▲predictable issues, and to comprehensively manage and support these projects.

In July 2022, the center took over the pre-review duties for public architectural project plans with design fees exceeding 100 million KRW (construction costs about 2.5 billion KRW) under the "Architectural Service Industry Promotion Act," which had previously been conducted by the National Public Architecture Support Center.

In particular, distinguishing the scope from the "Gyeonggi-do Public Construction Service Support Ordinance," the center also supports the creation of high-quality public buildings reflecting regional characteristics and resident demands for public architecture projects promoted by local governments and public institutions.

Major achievements include conducting 215 pre-reviews and consultations on project plans as of the end of October this year, such as the Ansan Jangsang Public Housing District site development project and fire station elevator installation project. Additionally, the statutory processing period for pre-reviews was shortened from 30 days to 24 days, contributing to prompt administration.

Kim Ki-beom, Director of the Gyeonggi-do Urban Regeneration Promotion Division, stated, "The Gyeonggi-do Public Construction Support Center conducts professional reviews to guide public construction and architectural project plans promoted by public institutions in the province toward appropriate directions and to establish reasonable budget plans. We will enhance convenience for Gyeonggi residents and realize public value by preventing poor-quality construction and ensuring quality in public construction projects."

Meanwhile, on October 20, the Gyeonggi-do Public Construction Support Center held the "Gyeonggi-do Public Construction and Architecture Officials Training" to improve the practical capabilities of Gyeonggi-do officials. About 100 public construction and architecture officials from Gyeonggi-do, 31 cities and counties, and local public enterprises attended the training.
