Dobong-gu, Seoul's First Traditional Market Seoul Mom and Dad VIP Zone 'Dokkaebi Darak (多樂) Room' Established

A dedicated space for moms and dads shopping with their children has been established for the first time in a Seoul autonomous district at Dobong-gu Banghak-dong Dokkaebi Market.

Dobong-gu (Mayor Oh Eon-seok) announced that it has created the first traditional market Seoul Mom and Dad VIP Zone, ‘Dokkaebi Darak (多樂) Room,’ at Banghak-dong Dokkaebi Market. The ‘Darak (多樂) Room’ means a space where moms, dads, and children all (多) enjoy (樂) together.

The district expects that creating a space for moms, dads, and children will attract young parents to the traditional market customer base.

The Dokkaebi Darak (多樂) Room was established on the first floor of the customer support center at Banghak-dong Dokkaebi Market, covering a total area of 60㎡, and is equipped with ▲rest area ▲play area ▲nursing room.

In particular, the play area with a loft structure is filled with play elements that children can see, hear, and enjoy, such as slides and interactive media.

Any caregiver accompanied by children aged 3 to preschool visiting the traditional market can use the space, which operates from Tuesday to Saturday, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. A childcare teacher is stationed to ensure children’s safety and allow moms and dads to shop comfortably without worry.

Oh Eon-seok, Mayor of Dobong-gu, said, “Through the opening of Dokkaebi Darak Room, we hope to expand the market customer base beyond the middle-aged and elderly who frequently visit traditional markets to include people in their 20s and 30s shopping with their children. We will strive to operate the Dokkaebi Darak Room so that it can become an advanced model for traditional markets.” He added, “We will continue to promote projects that can increase visits from the younger generation to help revitalize the local economy.”
