Meeting at the National Assembly on the 7th... Over 70 Participants Including Assemblyman Shin Jeong-hoon and the Korea Forest Service Chief
Discussion on Strengthening Safety Accident Prevention Education and Legal Improvements to Current Systems
A forum for preventing safety accidents among high-risk forestry workers will be held.
According to the Korea Forest Industry Safety and Health Association on the 1st, the "Forestry Safety and Health Education Enhancement Meeting" will be held on the 7th at the National Assembly Members' Office Building.
Hosted by National Assembly member Shin Jeong-hoon and organized by the Korea Forest Service and the Korea Forest Industry Safety and Health Association, this meeting was promoted to discuss measures to strengthen education aimed at reducing safety accidents.
About 70 participants will attend, including Assembly member Shin, Nam Seong-hyun, Administrator of the Korea Forest Service, Cho Han-gyu, President of the Korea Forest Industry Safety and Health Association, officials from the Ministry of Employment and Labor, forestry safety and health officers from cities and provinces nationwide, the Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency, related academia and associations, and contractors.
Despite recent active efforts to prevent forestry disasters, such as the enforcement of the Forestry Technology Act and the supplementation of safety management manuals, industrial accidents continue to occur due to the characteristics of the forestry industry. Accordingly, the need to strengthen forestry (silviculture) education within industrial safety and health education, which has been concentrated on general industries, is emerging.
Through this meeting, plans are to derive measures to strengthen safety education and improve current systems and laws to reduce safety accidents in high-risk forestry work.
The meeting will begin with a report on the progress of amendments to forestry safety and health-related laws by the Korea Forest Service, followed by a presentation from the Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency on the current status of forestry accidents and case studies.
An introduction to the necessity of education and the institution by the Korea Forest Industry Safety and Health Association will follow, leading into in-depth discussions.
