Pyeongtaek City Establishes 'Smart Environmental Management Center' for Real-Time Air Pollution Monitoring

Real-time Monitoring Possible with App Use
Establishing Customized Fine Dust Reduction Policies

Pyeongtaek City in Gyeonggi Province held a 'Smart Environmental Management Center Completion Report Meeting' on the 26th at the 2nd floor of Godeok Awesomeplex.

This project was promoted as part of the 'Smart Green City Creation Project,' which includes zeroing re-scattered dust through hydrogen green mobility, real-time monitoring, and policy establishment using data. The city invested approximately 1.1 billion KRW to complete the construction.

The newly established Smart Environmental Management Center monitors air pollutants at 66 locations within the city and allows citizens to check this information in real-time through an app. Seven dust suction vehicles are equipped with fine dust measuring devices, enabling real-time inspection and monitoring throughout the city.

The city expects that scientific analysis combining detailed regional concentration data with meteorological factors such as wind direction will be possible, as well as the establishment of customized fine dust reduction policies using accumulated data.

Lee Kang-hee, head of the Environmental Policy Division of Pyeongtaek City, said, "We will move beyond the existing notification-centered approach to propose more efficient fine dust reduction measures," adding, "We will strive to create a comfortable air environment that citizens can feel."
