Attorney Jeong Cheol-seung, who is accused of sexually harassing a junior lawyer, has been indicted. Attorney Jeong represented Kang Nan-hee, the wife of the late former Seoul Mayor Park Won-soon, in a lawsuit seeking to cancel the National Human Rights Commission's ex officio investigation results that acknowledged sexual harassment by a subordinate of former Mayor Park.
The Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office's Women and Children Crime Investigation Division 2 (Chief Prosecutor Won Shin-hye) announced on the 13th that Attorney Jeong was indicted without detention on charges of sexually harassing a junior lawyer.
Attorney Jeong is accused of sexually harassing junior lawyer A at a wine bar in Seocho-gu, Seoul, on March 27 of this year.
A filed a police complaint in April, alleging that Attorney Jeong groped her by poking her chest area and touching her hands. Attorney Jeong counter-sued A for false accusation and defamation under the Information and Communications Network Act. The police sent Attorney Jeong to the prosecution without detention on charges including forced molestation causing injury.
Although Attorney Jeong counter-sued A for false accusation and defamation, the prosecution judged that the charges against Attorney Jeong were valid.
Previously, in 2021, Attorney Jeong was accused by a woman of forced molestation and quasi-rape but was cleared by the police without charges.
