On this day, the KOSPI started lower due to concerns over prolonged high interest rates in the U.S. It initially fell more than 1% in early trading but gradually recovered some of the losses as time passed.
By investor type, foreigners and institutions sold net amounts of 129.1 billion KRW and 97.8 billion KRW respectively. Meanwhile, individuals bought a net amount of 206.7 billion KRW.
By sector, transportation and warehousing, construction, and distribution fell more than 1%. In contrast, insurance, finance, and machinery sectors saw slight gains.
Among the top market capitalization stocks, Samsung Electronics closed at 68,800 KRW, down 100 KRW (0.15%) from the previous trading day. Celltrion fell 2.25%, and POSCO Holdings and LG Chem dropped more than 1%. On the other hand, LG Energy Solution, SK Hynix, and Kia saw slight increases.
On this day’s KOSPI, a total of 289 stocks rose, including Seowon which hit the upper price limit. Meanwhile, 596 stocks declined without hitting the lower price limit, and 51 stocks remained unchanged.
The KOSDAQ closed at 857.35, down 3.33 points (0.39%) from the previous trading day.
By investor type, individuals and foreigners sold net amounts of 28.5 billion KRW and 10.9 billion KRW respectively. Institutions bought a net amount of 57.9 billion KRW.
By sector, digital content and construction fell more than 2%. Information devices, other services, software, finance, and telecommunications equipment declined more than 1%. In contrast, paper and wood rose 1.92%, and general electrical and electronics, internet, and semiconductors saw slight gains.
Among the top market capitalization stocks, EcoPro BM closed at 287,000 KRW, up 4,500 KRW (1.59%) from the previous trading day. HPSP rose 2.34%, and JYP Ent., Rainbow Robotics, and SM increased more than 1%. Conversely, Alteogen plunged 7.97%. Celltrion Pharm and Lunit fell more than 2%. Additionally, EcoPro and Celltrion Healthcare declined more than 1%.
On the KOSDAQ, a total of 505 stocks rose, including 5 stocks such as Elancis, Withus Pharm, and Ewha Component that hit the upper price limit. Meanwhile, 1,015 stocks declined without hitting the lower price limit, and 85 stocks remained unchanged.
