Jeju Air to Operate Incheon-Ulaanbaatar Route Year-Round

The Only Domestic LCC

Jeju Air announced on the 21st that it will expand the Incheon-Ulaanbaatar route, which previously operated only during peak seasons, to a year-round operation system.

Utilizing the off-season (October to May) operating rights for this route obtained from the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport during the regular route allocation in May, Jeju Air will start operating three times a week from the 1st of next month. It will be the only domestic LCC (low-cost carrier) to operate this route year-round.

Through this, the strategy is to target not only peak season travel demand but also visits from workers and international students returning to their homeland. This route recorded a boarding rate of about 94%, with over 21,600 passengers on 122 flights from June to August. The number of Mongolian tourists visiting Korea until July this year reached approximately 79,200, already surpassing the total number of Mongolian tourists last year, and exceeding the cumulative number of visitors until July 2019 before COVID-19. The number of Mongolian students in Korea is 10,375, ranking 4th among all foreign students in the country.

The return flight departs from Chinggis Khaan Airport at 2:10 PM and arrives at Incheon Airport at 6:10 PM.

From the 29th of next month onward, flights will operate every Monday, Thursday, and Sunday, departing Incheon at 1:00 PM and arriving at Chinggis Khaan Airport at 3:25 PM. The return flight departs at 4:25 PM and arrives at Incheon Airport at 8:25 PM.

A Jeju Air official stated, “Since launching the Korea-Mongolia route last year, we have provided consumers with more convenient schedules and reasonable fares, leading to the popularization of travel to Mongolia. Through year-round operation of the Mongolia route, we will not only meet peak season travel demand but also provide travel convenience to Mongolian workers and international students traveling between Korea and Mongolia during the off-season, thereby taking the lead in revitalizing the Korea-Mongolia route.”
