Iwol-myeon, Yeongyang-gun, Conducts Rural Labor Support for Community Contribution

Ilwol-myeon, Yeongyang-gun, Gyeongbuk (Mayor Lee Sam-hwa) visited farms struggling with labor shortages during the chili pepper harvest season on August 25th. A total of 25 employees from three departments (Ilwol-myeon Office, Finance Division, and Agriculture and Livestock Division) participated in helping with farm labor.

The employees who joined the labor support assisted with necessary tasks on the farms and listened to the difficulties faced by farmers, working hard on chili pepper harvesting and sorting.

Mr. Jo (51), who received the labor support, said, "With the aging rural population, the workforce capable of working is gradually decreasing, so this was a great help," and added, "I am truly grateful to the public officials who came to the farming sites and helped as if it were their own work despite their busy schedules."

Lee Sam-hwa, Mayor of Ilwol-myeon, stated, "We organized this rural labor support with the hope of providing even a little help to farms facing labor shortages," and emphasized, "I hope this volunteer activity in rural areas becomes a meaningful time for public officials to appreciate the importance of agriculture and empathize with the difficulties of farmers."
