Status Survey of Rooftop Landscaping Facilities for Medium to Large Buildings with a Total Floor Area of 2,000㎡ or More
Safety Measures and Management Issues Identified at 49 Locations; Guidance and Administrative Actions to Prevent Recurrence in Accordance with Relevant Laws and Regulations Planned
Establishment of a Safety Management System for Trees and Facilities at Risk of Toppling or Scattering During Strong Winds
Dobong-gu (Mayor Oh Eon-seok) announced that it has completed a comprehensive survey targeting medium to large buildings with rooftop landscaping to prevent safety accidents such as toppling of rooftop landscaping facilities and loss caused by strong winds.
According to the Korea Meteorological Administration forecast, heavy rain (such as 30mm or more per hour or 80mm or more per day) is expected to occur frequently in July and August this year, and human and material damages caused by heavy rain and typhoons occur every summer.
In particular, buildings with landscaping facilities installed on the rooftop face an increasing risk of safety accidents that may cause damage to nearby residents, such as trees breaking or landscaping facilities flying away during strong winds or typhoons, due to tree growth and aging of landscaping facilities over time.
Accordingly, the district conducted a comprehensive survey to identify the installation status and safety management conditions of rooftop landscaping facilities (trees, structures, etc.) on 275 medium to large buildings with a total floor area of 2,000㎡ or more located in Dobong-gu.
The survey confirmed that rooftop landscaping facilities were installed at 72 locations, and among them, 49 locations were found to have safety and management issues such as ▲poor tree management ▲insufficient supports ▲inadequate securing of facilities and items that could scatter.
For minor issues, the district will provide on-site guidance to prevent recurrence, and for matters requiring continuous management and maintenance, administrative guidance and other actions in accordance with relevant laws will be taken against owners and managers.
Oh Eon-seok, Mayor of Dobong-gu, said, “Through this comprehensive survey, we will establish a rooftop landscaping management system to ensure that no safety accidents occur even during typhoons or strong winds, creating a safe daily life for residents and a livable, secure city Dobong.”
