Gangnam Unnie, 60x Growth in Japanese Business in Just 2 Years

Healing Paper, the operator of the beauty medical information platform 'Gangnam Unnie,' announced on the 26th that its Japan business, including local services and attracting Japanese patients to Korea, has grown more than 60 times over the past two years.


This achievement is based on the number of Japanese users who selected hospitals in Korea and Japan through Gangnam Unnie. Gangnam Unnie entered the Japanese market in November 2019 and operates a service that allows Japanese patients to find hospitals in both Korea and Japan. During the COVID-19 pandemic, it acquired the local competitor 'Lucmo' and grew into the leading platform in Japan. In July last year, it also resumed services to attract Japanese patients to domestic hospitals.


The attraction of Japanese patients is rapidly increasing. After the endemic phase, the number of Japanese people searching for Korean dermatology and plastic surgery information through Gangnam Unnie surged, resulting in a 20-fold increase in the proportion of Japanese users applying for consultations at Korean hospitals in May compared to the same period last year.


As of this month, Gangnam Unnie's registered users have surpassed 5 million. Among them, one in five users choosing hospitals through Gangnam Unnie is Japanese. This means the Japan business has grown to about 25% of the Korean business, which was launched in January 2015.


Early next year, Gangnam Unnie plans to expand its beauty medical platform business globally. Based on the experience and know-how accumulated in the Japan business, it aims to promote Korean medical services to more countries and contribute to attracting foreign patients to Korea.


Hong Seung-il, CEO of Healing Paper, said, "We will grow into a service trusted by both medical consumers and doctors to resolve the global issue of medical information imbalance and expand transparent medical information exchange between countries."


Meanwhile, Gangnam Unnie helps medical consumers search for and select hospitals through 1.2 million actual consumer reviews and non-insurance procedure price information provided by 50,000 doctors.
