The government has formed a consultative body with 17 metropolitan and provincial governments to strengthen essential medical services and established a cooperative support system for essential medical care.
On the morning of the 2nd, the Ministry of Health and Welfare held a meeting chaired by Im In-taek, Director of Health and Medical Policy, to organize and operate the 'Essential Medical Support Government-Local Government Consultative Body' and discussed cooperation measures between the government and local governments to strengthen essential medical services.
At the meeting, cases of local government support for strengthening essential medical services were shared, including Seoul's ongoing 'Seoul-type Nighttime Pediatric Medical System Establishment Project' and Jeollabuk-do's supported 'Pilot Project for Fostering Talent in Essential Medical Departments,' and opinions were gathered on improvement measures to strengthen essential medical services.
Furthermore, the central government and the 17 metropolitan and provincial governments agreed to cooperate to establish a regionally conclusive essential medical service provision system, prepare support measures considering regional characteristics, and enhance the acceptance capacity of medical sites.
Director Im In-taek stated, "We will continue to actively share support cases promoted by each local government through the consultative body and discuss cooperation measures for essential medical support."
