'2023 Metaverse+Generative AI Summit' Featuring Metaverse, Generative AI, Web 3.0, and Metanomics to Be Held on June 14

The Asia representative metaverse exhibition, ‘2023 Metaverse Expo,’ will be held simultaneously with the ‘2023 Metaverse + Generative AI Summit (METAVERSE + Generative AI SUMMIT 2023)’ from June 14 to 16 for three days at COEX Hall C in Seoul.

At this year’s ‘2023 Metaverse + Generative AI Summit,’ attendees can experience a total of 34 lectures featuring 33 domestic and international speakers who are top experts in the fields of metaverse, generative AI, Web 3.0, blockchain, and metanomics, with differentiated themes for each day.

Web 3.0, emerging as a new internet value philosophy, is a term that embodies the philosophical perspective that the rights of content owners on the web should be more protected. Blockchain, NFT, and DAO are considered core technologies to technically realize this value, and the metaverse is regarded as the most optimized platform to realize the value of Web 3.0. On Wednesday, June 14, various lectures will be held under the theme ‘The Future Created by the New Internet Philosophy Web 3.0 and the New Internet Experience Metaverse.’

Kang Do-hyun, Director of the Information and Communication Policy Office at the Ministry of Science and ICT, will deliver a keynote speech on ‘Metaverse Policy Directions for Realizing a Digital Economy Hegemony Nation.’ The government has been establishing and implementing the national-level ‘Korea Digital Strategy’ policy since last year. It is conducting leading metaverse projects in various fields such as defense, veterans affairs, education, healthcare, and industrial complexes, continuously striving to make Korea a metaverse powerhouse.

Seung-hwan Lee, Principal Researcher at the Convergence SW Research Lab of the Software Policy Research Institute, will give a keynote speech titled ‘Metaverse RISES: Equipping with GPT Engine.’ Lee is a renowned expert in the metaverse and AI industries and the author of books such as ‘The Birth of the Super Individual,’ ‘The Future of Digital Wealth,’ ‘Metaverse Most Asked Questions TOP45,’ ‘Metaverse Begins,’ and ‘Web 3.0 Next Economy.’

Last year’s hot topic, the NFT market, lost significant trust after the FTX incident and experienced a crypto winter but has recently shown signs of recovery. This is attributed to the advancement of blockchain technology that can enhance the security of virtual economic systems and the continuous issuance of various new cryptocurrencies, stabilizing NFTs and generating diverse content. On Thursday, June 15, the summit will delve deeply into metanomics, virtual economic activities, business strategies, and cryptocurrencies based on the metaverse under the theme ‘Metanomics, the Ultimate Fusion System of Reality and Virtual Worlds.’

Following last year, Dong-gyu Kim, CEO of Calybus, a subsidiary of Lotte Data Communication Company, will deliver a keynote speech again this year. Through the Metaverse Expo Secretariat, he revealed that he will exclusively unveil technologies that will change the landscape of the metaverse industry at this exhibition and summit, drawing great expectations from the industry. CEO Kim is well known as a pioneer of ultra-realistic next-generation metaverse and the inventor of the Korea-US-Japan patented technology ‘Interactive Virtual Reality.’

Sun-min Bae, Director of the AI2XL Research Institute at KT Convergence Technology Institute, will present a keynote speech titled ‘Metaverse Powered by AI.’ KT is currently transforming into a digital company by challenging various fields such as logistics, robotics, content, and healthcare, beyond traditional telecommunications business. Dreaming of becoming a global tech company based on core AI technologies, Director Bae stated that through this lecture, he intends to diagnose and forecast the changes generative AI will bring to the metaverse.

Last year, the rise of ChatGPT triggered competition in the generative AI market. Starting with explosive interest in large-scale AI, various companies are showcasing innovative products and services utilizing it and are moving to strengthen competitiveness within the industry. On Friday, June 16, the summit will provide detailed insights into generative AI services and business models under the theme ‘GPT, How the Evolution of Generative AI Will Change Life, Work, and Thinking.’

Tech writer and IT expert Ji-hyun Kim will deliver a keynote speech titled ‘Generative AI Services and Business Opportunities Brought by ChatGPT.’ Currently at SK, Kim researches digital technology trends such as metaverse, blockchain, Web 3.0, LLM, and AI, and how companies can leverage these technologies for business innovation and performance creation. She revealed that through this lecture, she will discuss the emergence of a vast business ecosystem sparked by ChatGPT.

The final keynote speech of the summit will be delivered by Geon-bok Lee, Executive Director at Microsoft, on the topic ‘Rediscovering Productivity Using Large-scale AI.’ Microsoft continues to accelerate the commercialization of generative AI through collaboration with OpenAI and recently officially launched OpenAI services on the Azure cloud platform, aggressively leading the large-scale AI market.

Additionally, over the three days, lectures by experts from global companies leading metaverse and generative AI technologies such as META, Naver, Samsung Electronics, LG, Unity, Sandbox, Ryan Rocket, Lambda 256, and Lytton are also prepared.

A representative of Messe Isang, the organizer of the Metaverse Expo, stated, “Through the summit held over three days with themes such as generative AI, Web 3.0, and metanomics, attendees will be able to experience various metaverse industry trends, technologies, prospects, and business strategies.”
