Recruitment for Dream Connection Youth Cafe Participants, Support Focused on Local Cafes
70,000 Points for Youth Cafe Use, Employment and Startup Programs Provided
Gumi City in Gyeongbuk Province is recruiting participants for the ‘Kkumieum Youth Cafe Support Project,’ which supports young people’s job and startup preparations as well as community activities by utilizing local cafes.
The Kkumieum Youth Cafe Support Project is a new youth support initiative by Gyeongbuk Province that reflects the current trend of young people using cafes as multifunctional spaces for work, study, and information exchange. This year, six cities and counties, including Gumi, were selected as the first project sites.
The pilot cities and counties for the 2023 Gyeongbuk Kkumieum Youth Cafe project are Gumi, Pohang, Gyeongju, Gyeongsan, Yeongcheon, and Yeongdeok.
Gumi City plans to provide 463 unemployed youths aged 19 to 39 with mobile points worth 70,000 KRW (70,000 points) that can be used for beverages and other items. Approximately six local cafes with high youth foot traffic and space utilization will be selected by region to offer community activity spaces that support young people’s job and startup activities.
Youths will receive support for cafe usage fees and have access to regionally specialized job and startup programs offered at the youth cafes, as well as employment information from local companies. Gumi City also plans to promote local businesses through the youth cafes and support job matching programs between companies and outstanding young talents.
Youths and cafe business operators who wish to participate can apply online via the Gyeongbuk Youth e-Kkeullim website or submit an application form by email to the Gyeongbuk Employment Growth Support Center, the project’s operating institution.
Mayor Kim Jang-ho stated, “We will support local youths in finding employment at regional companies by operating effective employment programs that reflect their interests. Since Gumi was selected as a new pilot site by Gyeongbuk Province this year, we will operate the project thoroughly to ensure that more participants can benefit next year.”
Gumi City is conducting the ‘2023 Gumi City Population and Youth Policy Idea Contest’ (May 1?31) targeting citizens and the general public to develop policies addressing population decline and youth issues. Additionally, the city is recruiting the ‘Gumi City Youth Policy Participation Group’ (May 1?25) and is focusing all administrative efforts on population and youth policies that will revitalize the region based on communication with citizens.
