Naju City Council Adopts Proposal to Attract Distributed Energy Specialized Zone to Naju

The Naju City Council of Jeollanam-do (Chairman Lee Sang-man) announced on the 3rd that it held the 2nd plenary session of the 251st Naju City Council (extraordinary session) on the 2nd and adopted the "Proposal for Attracting a Distributed Energy Specialized Area to Naju."

Councilor Kim Kang-jung, who submitted the proposal as the representative, said, "There is great global interest in overcoming the climate change crisis and the renewable energy industry. Distributed power is at the core of that interest," adding, "Naju needs attention and investment in distributed power to lead the future energy industry."


He continued, "Following the approval of the 'Special Act on the Activation of Distributed Energy' by the National Assembly's Industry, Trade, Small and Medium Enterprises Committee on March 23, local governments have shown keen interest in attracting distributed power energy specialized areas," and added, "The distributed power energy specialized area should be attracted to Naju, which has the foundation for the energy industry."


Accordingly, the proposal includes requests for ▲ Jeollanam-do and Naju City to promptly form industry-academia-research and public-private cooperation bodies and actively work to attract the distributed energy specialized area to Naju, and ▲ the government and the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy to actively consider Jeollanam-do and Naju City as distributed energy specialized areas.


The Naju City Council plans to deliver the adopted proposal to the President, the Speaker of the National Assembly, the Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy, and the Governor of Jeollanam-do.


Meanwhile, the 'Special Act on the Activation of Distributed Energy' stipulates necessary matters such as ▲ the establishment and implementation of a basic plan for the activation of distributed energy and ▲ the designation of distributed energy specialized areas to promote distributed energy activation and expand the stability of energy supply.
