Lee Soon-hee, Mayor of Gangbuk-gu, “Congratulations on the National Team Selection with Residents... Wishing for Great Success”
Kim Ja-in, the queen of climbing and a promotional ambassador for Gangbuk-gu (Mayor Lee Soon-hee), was selected as a national representative at the ‘43rd National Sports Climbing Championship.’
Lee Soon-hee, Mayor of Gangbuk-gu, sent a congratulatory message.
Kim Ja-in (Sejong, Baljaguk Mountaineering Club) secured 3rd place in the combined event at the ‘43rd National Sports Climbing Championship’ held over three days from the 7th to the 9th at the Gangnam Sports Climbing Center in Seoul, and was finally selected as a national representative.
Despite suffering a critical injury to her left ring finger during bouldering training a week before the competition, Kim Ja-in demonstrated indomitable fighting spirit and ultimately earned the qualification to represent the national team.
According to the selection criteria, Kim Ja-in will wear the Taegeuk mark and represent Korea in various international competitions held this year.
Lee Soon-hee, Mayor of Gangbuk-gu, said, “We congratulate Kim Ja-in, the promotional ambassador of Gangbuk-gu, on her selection to the national team through her relentless effort, together with the residents of Gangbuk-gu,” and wished her great success. She also added, “We will work together with Kim Ja-in to widely promote Gangbuk-gu.”
Kim Ja-in was appointed as a promotional ambassador for Gangbuk-gu on March 20, following the world-renowned mountaineer Captain Um Hong-gil.
The ‘In’ in Kim Ja-in’s name is said to be derived from Insubong Peak of Bukhansan Mountain located in Gangbuk-gu. She trained in an indoor climbing gym in Beondong during her early twenties, marking the start of her prime, and recently opened a climbing center near Suyu Station, showing a deep connection with Gangbuk-gu that continues through her ambassador activities.
Geumcheon-gu Awards Commendation to Contributors Who Saved Precious Lives with CPR
Saved a Cardiac Arrest Patient with CPR and Emergency Treatment at Geumnarae Culture and Sports Center Swimming Pool
Geumcheon-gu (Mayor Yoo Sung-hoon) awarded the ‘Citizen Safety Merit Commendation’ on the 12th to seven people, including an active firefighter and swimming instructors, who revived a patient in cardiac arrest through CPR and emergency treatment at the swimming pool.
On February 10, firefighter Kim Tae-hyung, a paramedic from Yongsan-gu Seobinggo 119 Safety Center, visited the Geumnarae Culture and Sports Center swimming pool on his day off. Around 11:30 a.m. while swimming, he found Ms. A (73, female) floating on the water surface and confirmed that she was not breathing and had no pulse.
After immediately calling 119, he and six swimming instructors (Im Dae-hoon, Yoo Hwi-seon, Go Seon-yeol, Oh Mi-hwa, So Min-su, An Seung-yoon) performed CPR and emergency treatment. Subsequently, with the arrival of the 119 ambulance team and their use of an automated external defibrillator and CPR, Ms. A regained consciousness.
This story was publicized in the Fire and Disaster News on February 20. Following this, Geumcheon-gu held a merit review committee in March and finally selected these seven individuals as ‘Citizen Safety Merit Awardees.’ The Citizen Safety Merit Commendation is an award given to citizens who have demonstrated exemplary or virtuous actions for resident safety, actively encouraging such contributions through resident recommendations and media reports.
Yoo Sung-hoon, Mayor of Geumcheon-gu, said, “We sincerely thank the contributors who protected precious lives through prompt and active emergency treatment,” and added, “We hope this excellent act of kindness will be widely known and serve as a good example.”
