A man in his 30s who installed a hidden camera in a women's changing room was arrested by the police.
The Gyeongnam Provincial Police Agency's Women and Youth Crime Investigation Unit announced on the 12th that they apprehended a male suspect, A, and booked him without detention on charges of violating the Act on Special Cases Concerning the Punishment, etc. of Sexual Crimes.
According to the investigation unit, A is suspected of installing a miniature illegal filming camera on the window frame of the women's changing room on the first floor of a branch office of a public corporation in Gyeongnam at around 5:45 p.m. on February 6.
The camera, discovered by female employees of the same branch, was found without a memory card inserted.
The police requested DNA analysis on the fingerprints found in the changing room and on the camera, but the evidential value was compromised as multiple people touched them before collection.
Accordingly, the police checked overseas shipping records with branch employees and identified circumstances indicating that A purchased the camera.
During the police investigation, A reportedly admitted to the crime, stating that he committed it out of curiosity.
The memory card that might have contained the recorded footage was found to have been crumpled and thrown into the trash by A, and no recorded files were found on A's seized mobile phone and computer.
The police are currently investigating whether the recorded footage was distributed and if A has any additional offenses.
