COVID-19 Vaccine 'Winter Additional Doses' End Starting Tomorrow... "Vaccinations Available at Some Institutions"

COVID-19 Vaccine 'Winter Additional Doses' End Starting Tomorrow... "Vaccinations Available at Some Institutions" Vaccination

As the additional winter vaccination, which began last October, ends on the 7th, health authorities announced on the 6th that those wishing to get vaccinated can still receive free vaccinations at some medical institutions thereafter.

According to the COVID-19 Vaccination Response Task Force, from the 7th, the number of COVID vaccine vaccination sites will be reduced from about 17,000 to around 5,000.

However, the approximately 12,000 institutions that will no longer maintain vaccination services can still provide vaccinations for pre-booked appointments until the end of April, and same-day vaccinations can be administered until their vaccine supplies are exhausted.

Since the number of vaccination sites will be reduced after the 7th, those wishing to get vaccinated are advised to check the list of institutions maintaining vaccination services through the COVID-19 Vaccination website, etc.

For bivalent vaccines, individuals aged 12 and older who have completed the 1st and 2nd primary doses can receive the vaccine 90 days after their last vaccination. However, the bivalent vaccine manufactured by Moderna is intended for those aged 18 and older.

The task force stated, “Even after the end of the additional winter vaccination period, if you have not yet completed vaccination, we will select and operate institutions that maintain vaccination services,” and added, “Vaccination is the most effective way to protect high-risk groups such as the elderly.”
