Trump Raises 5.2 Billion Won Selling T-Shirts at 60,000 Won Each
Daniels Also Sells T-Shirts and Pet Dog Toys
The sexual scandal dispute between former U.S. President Trump and porn actress Stormy Daniels has escalated into a 'support T-shirt' sales competition between conservative and progressive camps.
British broadcaster BBC reported on the 1st (local time) that T-shirts with the phrase "I stand with Trump" and T-shirts with the slogan "#Teamstormy" are selling like hotcakes in the United States. The former was triggered by the indictment decision against former President Trump. After the indictment news was reported, Trump's presidential campaign appealed to supporters to participate in fundraising. According to the Trump campaign, the price of the T-shirts is over $47 (about 60,000 won). Sales reached $4 million (about 5.24 billion won) in one day.

Daniels' side also jumped into T-shirt sales in response. On the website, #Teamstormy T-shirts are sold for $20 each (about 26,000 won), less than half the price of Trump's T-shirts, and dog toys resembling former President Trump are sold for $30 (about 39,000 won). Daniels expressed gratitude to supporters on her Twitter account, saying, "Orders for #Teamstormy merchandise have been pouring in since the indictment decision was announced." Daniels has 1.33 million Twitter followers. There are also about 2,000 members of her Facebook fan accounts. Most of her supporters are reported to be people who strongly oppose former President Trump.
Besides the sales of 'official goods,' others are also enjoying a special boom. Merchants near Mar-a-Lago Resort, former President Trump's residence in Florida, are experiencing an unexpected peak by selling Trump-related hats, T-shirts, and other merchandise.
Daniels claims that she had sexual relations with former President Trump in 2006 and that Trump gave her $130,000 (about 170 million won) on the condition that she would not disclose it when he ran for the U.S. presidency. Former President Trump admits that he instructed his personal lawyer Michael Cohen to deliver the money to Daniels and that the company reimbursed the cost, but denies the sexual relations.
The New York State prosecutor's office investigated this case for nearly five years. On the 30th of last month, a grand jury in the New York State court decided to indict, making former President Trump the first U.S. president in history to be criminally indicted. He is scheduled to appear in court on the 4th. Former President Trump will not wear handcuffs but is expected to have a 'mugshot' (a facial photo for identification) taken and fingerprints collected like other suspects. However, according to New York State law, the 'mugshot' is expected not to be released publicly.
