Government to Decide at Space Development Promotion Working Committee on 31st
Detailed Date to Be Set in April

The third launch of the Korean-type space launch vehicle 'Nuriho' has been scheduled between mid-May and late June. The specific date will be reconfirmed in mid-April.

On the morning of the 31st, the government held the 46th Space Development Promotion Working Committee meeting at the National Science and Technology Advisory Council conference room in Gwanghwamun, Seoul, chaired by Oh Tae-seok, the 1st Vice Minister of the Ministry of Science and ICT, where the launch permit review results were approved.

Nuriho 3rd Launch Scheduled Between Mid-May and Late June

According to Article 11, Paragraph 1 of the Space Development Promotion Act, a permit from the Minister of Science and ICT is required for space launch vehicles. The committee reviewed the launch permit application and plan submitted by the Korea Aerospace Research Institute (KARI) on February 2nd and, considering factors such as purpose of use, safety management, and financial responsibility including liability insurance, judged it to be 'appropriate.'

The specific launch date will be decided within the designated period, taking into account the preparation status of the payload satellites. The final date will be confirmed at the Launch Management Committee meeting held in mid-April, considering detailed conditions such as weather. The third Nuriho launch will carry the next-generation small satellite No. 2, the space weather observation small satellite Toyosat (4 units) from the Korea Astronomy and Space Science Institute, and satellites developed for space technology development by private startups.
