A harrowing accident occurred in the United States when a vehicle driving on the highway collided with a tire that had come off a neighboring vehicle, causing it to overturn. The damaged vehicle was thrown more than 3 meters into the air before flipping over, but the driver reportedly sustained only minor injuries.
According to Fox News and other sources in the U.S. on the 27th (local time), the accident happened on the 23rd on a highway in the Chatsworth area of Los Angeles (LA).
In the released footage, a Chevrolet pickup truck was driving alongside a black Kia Soul on the highway when suddenly the front wheel of the Chevrolet detached from the vehicle.
The tire flew forward toward the Soul, and the Soul ran over the tire without any chance to avoid it. As a result, the Soul immediately lifted off the ground, soaring at least 12 feet (3.65 meters) into the air. The vehicle flipped half a rotation in the air before hitting the ground front-first.
The incident was fully captured on the dashcam of a vehicle following behind and was later shared on social media platforms such as Twitter and in the media.
It was a serious accident that could have been fatal, but fortunately, the Soul’s driver reportedly suffered only minor injuries. Notably, he was able to walk away from the vehicle unharmed.
A spokesperson for the California Highway Patrol stated, "There was only one occupant in the Kia, the driver, who sustained minor injuries," and added, "It appears that the wheel nuts on the Chevrolet vehicle were damaged, causing the tire to detach."
The Kia Soul, a compact SUV launched in 2008 in a boxy design, was discontinued in South Korea in 2021. However, it remains a popular model in the North American market.

Previously, Tiger Woods, known as the 'Golf Emperor,' also survived a rollover accident thanks to the Genesis GV80.
In February last year, Tiger Woods was involved in a rollover accident while driving a GV80. Although the vehicle was totaled in the crash, Woods suffered no major injuries except for a broken leg. This incident highlighted the GV80’s excellent safety features.
The Genesis GV80 received the highest safety rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), a U.S. nonprofit organization established in 1959 that annually evaluates the crash safety and crash prevention performance of vehicles released in the U.S.
Vehicles demonstrating the highest safety are awarded the Top Safety Pick Plus (TSP+), while those with good safety levels receive the Top Safety Pick (TSP) rating. The GV80 earned the TSP+ rating alongside safety icons such as Volvo’s XC60 and XC90, Mercedes-Benz GLE, and Tesla Model Y.
