Yoo In-tae CBS Radio Interview
"Actually, I Feel Wronged and Have Something to Say"
Former Prosecutor General Lee In-gyu, who was in charge of the investigation into the late President Roh Moo-hyun, has sparked controversy by publishing a memoir. Former National Assembly Secretary-General Yoo In-tae commented, saying, "'He has felt wronged all this time' and is trying to restore his honor."
On the 23rd, Yoo appeared on CBS Radio's 'Kim Hyun-jung's News Show' and mentioned that Lee left for the United States in 2017, effectively fleeing abroad. He criticized, "Now that the country is run by prosecutors, he feels like he has found his world," adding, "'I'm actually wronged,' he shouts out."
Recently, Lee's book (I Was a Prosecutor of the Republic of Korea - Who Killed Roh Moo-hyun?) was published, causing ripples in the political sphere. The book is known to contain content suggesting that the bribery charges against the late president were true.
On the morning of the 18th, at Kyobo Bookstore in Jongno-gu, Seoul, the memoir of former Deputy Chief Prosecutor Lee In-gyu of the Supreme Prosecutors' Office's Central Investigation Department, titled I Was a Prosecutor of the Republic of Korea - Who Killed Roh Moo-hyun?, which contains content suggesting that all bribery allegations against the late former President Roh Moo-hyun were true, was displayed. Regarding this, Yoo said, "I don't think it's something to pay much attention to," adding, "From his perspective, he must have felt very wronged, but the late president has passed away, and there is no way to verify the contents of the book."
When asked about claims that Lee might engage in political activities or public office following the memoir's publication, Yoo was reserved, saying, "Many prosecutors are running in next year's general election; I don't know if he is trying to join that group."
Meanwhile, Lee has stated that he has no plans for political activities or public office. In an interview with Yonhap News on the 20th, he said, "Some say I published the book to run for the National Assembly, but I clearly state that I have no intention of entering politics," adding, "I have no plans to take public office again, and even if offered, I will refuse."
Regarding the memoir controversy, he expressed, "I sincerely apologize for bringing up past stories that hurt the hearts of many who loved the late President Roh," but emphasized, "However, above all, I wrote the book because I believe the truth and facts are more important."
