Yaroslav Nad, Slovakia's Minister of Defense, announced on the 22nd (local time) that the United States has offered to provide new attack helicopters at a discounted price to his country, which has agreed to support Ukraine with fighter jets.
Minister Nad stated in a post on his Facebook page that "the United States has proposed selling 12 Bell AH-1Z Viper helicopters at two-thirds of the original price."
He added, "Since we currently do not possess attack helicopters, this will equip us with an entirely new combat capability," emphasizing, "This offer is very advantageous for us and will significantly enhance Slovakia's potential defense strength."
Furthermore, according to Minister Nad, the deal includes helicopter parts, training, and 500 AGM-114 Hellfire II multipurpose missiles. He said, "This is a deal valued at 1 billion dollars, but we will pay 340 million dollars over 3 to 4 years," adding, "The European Union (EU) will also provide 269 million dollars."
However, Minister Nad explained that the deal must receive government approval to be finalized.
Meanwhile, Slovakia recently decided to support Ukraine with 13 retired MiG-29 fighter jets and the Kub air defense system.
