Early April Visit Event Held
To celebrate the record-breaking success of the Japanese animated film 'The First Slam Dunk,' the Japanese voice actors and the singer of the theme song will visit Korea.
On the 15th, the distributor SMG Holdings announced that they will hold the 'Slam Dunk Festival' next month to commemorate the film surpassing 4 million cumulative viewers.
At the festival, there will be events including a visit from the Japanese voice actors and a live performance by the singer Tenpit (10-FEET), who sang the theme song "Jezero-gam" (第ゼロ感·JeZERO-gam).
'The First Slam Dunk' is a film depicting the unstoppable passion, dreams, and challenges of the four members of the basketball team at Buk San High School, who dream of conquering the nation. It was adapted for the screen by Takehiko Inoue, the original author of the manga 'Slam Dunk,' which was serialized in a weekly magazine from 1990 to 1996.
The film surpassed 'Your Name.' (3.79 million), the top-grossing Japanese animated film, on the 61st day after its release on the 5th, becoming the highest-grossing Japanese film in Korea's history.
SMG Holdings stated, "We are holding the ‘Slam Dunk Festival’ to repay the passionate love of domestic audiences," adding, "We will offer fans a festival-like week with abundant content."
Meanwhile, according to the Korea Film Council's integrated ticketing system, 'The First Slam Dunk,' which was released on January 4, added 10,613 viewers on the 14th, bringing the cumulative audience to 4,028,383.
