Admission to Central Fire Academy on the 20th
The National Fire Agency announced the final successful candidates for the 29th Fire Officer Cadet Class, totaling 30 individuals, on the 14th through the National Fire Agency website and 119gosi.
A total of 1,153 applicants competed for the Fire Officer Cadet selection this year, resulting in a competition rate of 38.4 to 1, which is slightly lower compared to last year's 28th class competition rate of 44 to 1.
The average age of the final successful candidates is 27 years old, with the youngest candidate being 23 years old (female, natural sciences) and the oldest candidate being 34 years old (male, natural sciences).
By recruitment field, the highest competition rate was in the humanities and social sciences female category, with 133 applicants competing for 2 positions, resulting in a rate of 66.5 to 1. The competition rates for the humanities and social sciences male category was 52.1 to 1, natural sciences male category 23.5 to 1, and natural sciences female category 19 to 1, respectively.
This year’s selection exam scores were calculated by combining written test (50%), physical fitness test (25%), and interview (25%) scores, with final successful candidates determined by highest total scores. Last year, the weighting was written test (75%), physical fitness test (15%), and interview (10%), but the proportions for physical fitness and interview were increased to select candidates more focused on field job performance.
The final successful candidates will enter the Central Fire Academy (located in Gongju-si, Chungnam) on the 20th. After completing one year of training, they will be appointed as Fire Lieutenants and begin working as junior officers at frontline fire agencies.
