Activities of the Legislation and Judiciary Subcommittee until February 2025
Professor Ha Tae-young of Dong-A University School of Law (President Lee Hae-woo) has been appointed as a member of the 11th National Assembly Legislative Support Committee. Professor Ha was reappointed following his service in the 10th term.

The National Assembly Legislative Support Committee is operated by the Legislative Office of the National Assembly Secretariat to enhance the expertise of legislative support services, such as drafting bills and reviewing administrative legislation, by collecting diverse legislative opinions from experts across various fields.
Committee members provide advice on drafting bills and reviewing administrative legislation, present and discuss at academic conferences, seminars, and expert meetings, submit suggestions for legal improvements, and offer consultation on legislative activities related to standing committees and members' offices.
The term for the 11th committee members, which began on the 25th of last month, will last for two years until February 24, 2025. A total of 148 members were appointed across 19 subcommittees, and Professor Ha will serve on the Legislative and Judiciary Subcommittee.
Professor Ha stated, “I will devote my efforts to helping swiftly and accurately draft and revise laws that the public needs and contribute to creating high-quality and easy-to-read legislation.”
Professor Ha, a distinguished criminal law scholar who earned his Ph.D. in Law from Halle University in Germany, has been actively promoting the popularization of law by consistently publishing works such as Philosophy and Policy of Criminal Law, Strengthening Criminal Law Provisions, Yawns of a Hippopotamus 1 & 2, 12 Years on the Scene of German Reunification, and Social Norms, as well as a series on legal drafting emphasizing that “laws should be easy to read,” including Medical Law, Bioethics Law, and Public Officials Corruption Investigation Office Law.
His book Philosophy and Policy of Criminal Law was selected as an Excellent Academic Book by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism in 2009.
Professor Ha has served as president of the Korean Society of Comparative Criminal Law and the Yeongnam Criminal Case Study Association. He received the 2012 Academic Award from the Korean Society of Comparative Criminal Law for International Comparison of Pirate Trials and the 8th Lee Byung-ju Literary Research Award in 2022 for Night Has Fallen, a profound analysis of legal principles in the novels of Lee Byung-ju.
