Russian President Vladimir Putin sent a congratulatory message to Chinese President Xi Jinping on his successful third term, AFP and other foreign media reported on the 10th (local time).
On the same day, President Putin congratulated President Xi on his third term via Telegram and stated that the two countries will continue to cooperate on important regional and international issues, the Kremlin announced.
He especially referred to President Xi as a "dear friend" and said, "Please accept my sincere congratulations on your re-election as President." He also emphasized, "We will continue to work together to address the most significant regional and international agendas."
He added, "I appreciate President Xi's personal contribution to strengthening the comprehensive partnership and strategic cooperation between our two countries," and expressed confidence that "if we work together, mutually beneficial cooperation between Russia and China across all fields will further develop."
On the same day, President Xi was unanimously elected as President in the third plenary session of the 14th National People's Congress held at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing. This marks the first third term since the founding of the People's Republic of China.
