Kim Ki-hyun Emphasizes 'Policy Competence'... Brings Up 'Yeonpotang' Gesture

"The Party Must Take Policy Leadership"
Presidential Primary Candidates to Meet Soon

Kim Ki-hyun, the newly appointed leader of the People Power Party, emphasized the 'importance of policy.' Along with this, he extended a hand to the candidates running for the party leadership election at the party convention, as he has valued the so-called 'Yeonpotang' (Solidarity, Inclusion, and Balance) until now.

On the morning of the 10th, at the People Power Party Policy Members' Meeting held at the National Assembly, Leader Kim stated, "I hope we can strengthen the party's policy capabilities."

Leader Kim continued, "The policy members' meeting is very important, but sometimes attendance drops, which is disappointing," and explained, "From my experience crossing both ruling and opposition parties, I thought that once you become the ruling party, the party's leadership in policy is extremely important."

He also said, "Today's policy members' meeting should not just be about acquiring knowledge in the meeting but also about exercising policy leadership in the field. We will definitely put efforts into strengthening the party's leadership in the party-government relationship," adding, "I am confident that by doing so, we will establish policy leadership that aligns with public sentiment and be able to enact necessary legislation, reflect budgets, and policies for the people."

He requested the lawmakers to 'demonstrate their capabilities.' Leader Kim said, "I believe a fair system is one where those who demonstrate their abilities well, are competent, capable, and hardworking, can achieve proper results and be rewarded and evaluated accordingly," and added, "I believe a party where capable and diligent people are favored is a party full of vitality."

He then mentioned 'Yeonpotang' once again. He emphasized, "I said we would achieve party unity through Solidarity, Inclusion, and Balance, and this will not remain a verbal promise," stressing, "I hope our party embraces orderly diversity."

He also brought up 'harmony' with the candidates who competed in the primary. Leader Kim said, "After the primary, I called all three candidates to apologize for any lingering resentment and asked them to join hands moving forward, which many agreed with," adding, "Some even publicly expressed their intention to join hands with the party, and I will meet them soon to ensure they become comrades in the party's grand unity and the march toward a sweeping victory in the general election."
