[Yang Nak-gyu's Defence photo] Black Eagles' First Flight Over the Equatorial South

South Korea Air Force's special flight team, the 'Black Eagles,' took off for the first time in the Southern Hemisphere. Since showcasing special flights immediately after the Korean War armistice, this is the first time the South Korean Air Force has performed special flights south of the equator.

The Black Eagles participated in the 'Australia Avalon International Airshow' held at Avalon Airport in the city of Geelong near Melbourne, Australia. This was also their first time participating in the Avalon Airshow. To attend the airshow, the Black Eagles departed from their base in Wonju on the 15th and flew approximately 10,000 km via Jeju, Taiwan, the Philippines, and Indonesia. Australia had invited the Black Eagles in 2021 as well, but the invitation was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This time, Australia sent a renewed invitation, making the participation possible.

At the Avalon Airshow held that day, the Black Eagles were in charge of the opening ceremony's solo flight, marking the first time they appeared as the main act at the opening ceremony of an overseas airshow.
