[Asia Economy (Seongnam) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Gachon University held the '2022 Academic Year Spring Semester Degree Conferment Ceremony' on the 23rd at the university's Yeeum Hall. At the ceremony, a total of 3,396 degrees were awarded, including 82 doctoral degrees, 408 master's degrees, and 2,906 bachelor's degrees.

The degree conferment ceremony was held in person for the first time in three years since the COVID-19 pandemic.

Im Seo-yeon (female, 22) from the Department of Global Economics and Kim Guk-hyun (male, 28) from the Department of Business Administration received the President's Award as the top and second top graduates, respectively.

President Lee Gil-yeo said in his congratulatory address, "I hope you live by burning your curiosity into passion. Curiosity has driven human evolution. The day when we can travel from Seoul to New York in 30 minutes aboard a space shuttle is becoming a reality," adding, "There is also a project to unlock the secrets of cells and extend human lifespan to 200 years. All of this is the power of curiosity and passion."

He continued, "The foundation of our lives has changed, and the stage of competition has shifted. Now is the era of competing on a virtual stage, that is, in virtual spaces. Technologies such as ChatGPT, which is currently a hot topic, along with the metaverse, cryptocurrency, and NFTs (Non-Fungible Tokens), will become part of your daily lives," adding, "Therefore, your mindset must also change. You must never forget the gap in creativity even for a moment."
