Expectations for Children's Activities in China After Hanhanryeong Lifted

[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Seon-ae] Cube Entertainment announced on the 23rd that their girl group (G)I-DLE (Miyeon, Minnie, Soyeon, Yuqi, Shuhua) is receiving numerous love calls from the Chinese advertising industry for their Chinese member ‘Yuqi’.

A Cube Entertainment official explained, "Thanks to Yuqi's high recognition in China, she has rapidly emerged as a blue chip in the advertising industry, securing advertising contracts across various sectors such as color cosmetics and casual clothing, proving her influence within China."

According to Cube Entertainment, Yuqi utilized the group's hiatus in 2021 to release her first digital single 'APage' in China, with the title tracks 'Giant' and 'Bonnie & Clyde' ranking first on Weibo real-time search, TikTok challenge rankings, and popular search terms in China. Additionally, she achieved good results on the Chinese survival program 'Explosive Stage: Stage Boom (爆裂舞台)' and gained great popularity in China as a fixed member of the Chinese version of Running Man, the Zhejiang Satellite TV variety show 'Run (奔??)'.

A Cube Entertainment official stated, "The popularity in China that has continued since then, combined with (G)I-DLE's album performance last year, has led to a flood of advertising inquiries from Chinese companies centered around Yuqi."

Meanwhile, (G)I-DLE demonstrated their high recognition and strong presence in China by ranking first and second respectively on the annual charts of 'NetEase Cloud Music,' one of China's largest music platforms, with their first full album title track 'TOMBOY' and mini-album 5 title track 'Nxde' last year.

A Cube Entertainment official explained, "With the recent airing of Korean dramas in China and rising expectations for the lifting of the Hallyu ban, we also look forward to (G)I-DLE’s future activities in China, centered on their Chinese member Yuqi."
