Solo Exhibition of Artist Lee Kyung-hee Open Until the End of March
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] At the Eoulmaru of the College of Engineering, Gyeongsang National University, the invited solo exhibition "A Walk, Strolling Among Flowers and Trees" by artist Lee Kyung-hee is being held until March 31. Meanwhile, Professor Jeon Cha-soo from the Department of Industrial Systems Engineering is attracting attention by exhibiting poems that complement the paintings.
Eoulmaru is a space created in 2017 by the College of Engineering for faculty, students, and visitors to hold meetings, rest, and engage in cultural exchange. The Eoulmaru Gallery holds new exhibitions every three months, and this exhibition is the 20th planned exhibition.
Curator Lee Eun-hee, who plans the Eoulmaru exhibitions, is a mid-career artist actively involved in the Korean Fine Arts Association and the Gyeongnam Watercolor Association, with 13 solo exhibitions to her name. She operates the "Kkotsalm Gallery" in Jinju.
The artist graduated from the English Department at Gyeongsang National University and has participated in six group exhibitions; this is her first solo exhibition. Under the title "A Walk," she expresses the wisdom and humility learned from flowers and trees in her paintings.
Professor Jeon wrote a playful poem about "plum blossoms," the herald of spring, to welcome incoming engineering students, and in the work titled "Tree," he attempts "newness," the fundamental orientation of art, through an engineer's creative perspective and sensory language toward objects. This reflects Professor Jeon's affection for his students, showing that engineering and literature are not separate and that engineering students can write poetry by mobilizing creativity.
Professor Jeon serves as the head of the Department of Mechanical Systems, a master's program in contract studies for small and medium enterprises, and also participates in the Graduate School of Technology Management (MOT). Recently, he has been delivering many lectures and talks as a "creativity evangelist."
