Dongbu Construction Challenges 'Zero Major Industrial Accidents' for 3 Consecutive Years

[Asia Economy Reporter Noh Kyung-jo] Dongbu Construction is challenging to achieve zero major industrial accidents for the third consecutive year this year.

On the 10th, Dongbu Construction announced that it held the "2023 Major Industrial Accident Zero Achievement Safety Campaign Declaration Ceremony." The event was held simultaneously at about 25 sites nationwide, attended by Dongbu Construction executives including President Yoon Jin-oh, site managers, and representatives of partner companies.

The event proceeded with excellent safety activity awards, reading of the resolution, chanting of safety slogans, and joint safety and health inspections. Under the slogan "Safety First, 1% Instruction 99% Thorough Confirmation," Dongbu Construction pledged to establish the "Dongbu Construction 7 Major Safety and Health Golden Rules" and vowed to achieve zero major industrial accidents for three consecutive years.

President Yoon emphasized, "Building a perfect accident prevention system that does not allow even a single major accident is the shortcut to becoming a sustainable company," adding, "Let us establish a solid safety system across the entire company and all partner companies with the mindset of 'thorough confirmation' at all times."

Earlier, Dongbu Construction set company-wide safety and health policies for the new year, including ▲ compliance with safety and health legal requirements ▲ continuous improvement of the safety and health management system ▲ elimination of hazardous and risky factors and risk reduction. The safety and health goals include ▲ focused management of fall accidents ▲ strengthening industrial accident prevention activities ▲ enhancing safety management levels. Last year, Dongbu Construction scored 100 points in industrial accident prevention activities and received a "very excellent" rating in the safety management level evaluation.

A Dongbu Construction official said, "Only the highest level of safety management that adheres to the basics can be the driving force to continue zero major accidents," adding, "We will strive to establish a higher level of safety management system through thorough accident prevention activities."
