Event to Be Held Once a Month Until December
[Asia Economy Honam News Bureau, reporter Heo Sunshik] On February 9, Suncheon City, South Jeolla Province (Mayor Noh Gwan-gyu) announced that it will launch the "2023 Climate Change Response SNS Event" to encourage all citizens to actively practice carbon-neutral lifestyles.
The climate change response event aims to raise awareness of the message "The climate crisis is real! Carbon neutrality is inevitable!" through social networking service (SNS) promotions, and to realize the citizen-led 2050 carbon neutrality goal befitting Suncheon, Korea's premier ecological capital.
The event will introduce a variety of practical activities, such as completing a carbon-neutral bingo, using tumblers, answering environmental quizzes, and practicing Dae.Ja.Bo (public transportation, cycling, walking) to reduce carbon emissions. It will be held once a month until December.
In February, the "Carbon Neutral Goal Practice Certification" event, where participants set their New Year's carbon-neutral goals, will be held from the 10th to the 21st.
Participants can leave a comment with one carbon-neutral goal they are determined to practice this year and submit a photo as proof of their efforts.
Participation is possible through Suncheon City's official Instagram account, and selected participants will receive prizes through a drawing.
An official from Suncheon City stated, "When it comes to responding to climate change, it may seem like grand goals and action plans are required, but there are actually many things we can do in our daily lives. We ask that all citizens of Suncheon continue to pay attention to reducing greenhouse gas emissions and actively participate in the SNS event to promote carbon-neutral living."
