Dongjak-gu, First Fruit of Green Remodeling 'Baenamugol Senior Center' Opens

[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Dongjak-gu (Mayor Park Il-ha) remodeled Baenamugol Senior Center (3, Dongjak-daero 29ba-gil) as the first target of the senior center green remodeling project and held an opening ceremony on the 7th.

'Green Remodeling' is part of the zero-energy transition project that improves the energy performance of existing buildings to contribute to greenhouse gas reduction and provides seniors with a comfortable and convenient facility environment.

Baenamugol Senior Center has a total floor area of 247.55㎡, with one basement floor and two above-ground floors. Through this remodeling, improvements were made including ▲ heating and cooling system upgrades ▲ enhanced insulation of the roof and building walls ▲ air circulators ▲ replacement of windows and lighting ▲ installation of solar panels.

In particular, it obtained the 'Building Energy Efficiency Grade 1++ Certification.' It is analyzed that about 80% of heating energy consumption has been saved, leading to reduced energy usage at the senior center.

This year, the district plans to monitor the energy usage of buildings to verify the project’s effectiveness and expand the green remodeling project to four district-run senior centers in the area.

About 50 people attended the opening ceremony, including Dongjak-gu Mayor Park Il-ha, city and district council members, the head of the Korea Senior Citizens Association Seoul Dongjak-gu branch, local organization leaders, and senior center members.

Mayor Park Il-ha of Dongjak-gu said, “In the face of this heating cost crisis, fundamental solutions such as infrastructure improvements are necessary,” adding, “We will continuously promote the zero-energy transition project to take the lead in public safety and carbon neutrality.”

Gangdong-gu to Complete Amsa History Park by 2026 through Prompt Land Compensation

First Pledge of the 8th Term, 3.9 Billion KRW Invested in 2023, 86% of Land Compensation Expected to be Completed

Amsa Prehistoric Site Linked with Amsa Green Path Project Expected to Become a New Landmark in Seoul

Gangdong-gu (Mayor Lee Soo-hee) announced on the 8th that it will invest 3.9 billion KRW this year to expedite land compensation for the creation of Amsa History Park and complete the park within the current term.

The early completion of Amsa History Park is the first pledge of the 8th term and involves converting the 110,198㎡ area around the Amsa-dong prehistoric site, the oldest village in Seoul, into a park.

Since its initial designation as a park in 2006, the urban planning facility will expire in 2026 after 20 years. Therefore, the district plans to promptly proceed with land compensation to complete the park within the term. The park will include a toddler forest playground, forest experience area, picnic area, and lawn yard.

Upon completion of this year’s planned compensation, 94,112㎡, equivalent to 85.4% of the total project area of 110,198㎡, will be compensated. The district plans to closely coordinate with Seoul city and related agencies to secure resources and complete compensation for the remaining 16,086㎡ as soon as possible.

Additionally, a survey was conducted last December to gather residents’ opinions on the park’s development direction and preferred facilities. Based on these results, a new park development plan will be established, and residents’ opinions will be actively reflected during the design phase.

Furthermore, the project will be linked with the Amsa Green Path project, which connects the Amsa-dong archaeological site, separated by Olympic-daero, with the Han River waterfront green space. A skywalk will be constructed to environmentally develop the Han River waterfront connecting Godeok Ecological Park and the Amsa district, continuously enhancing residents’ access to the Han River.

Mayor Lee Soo-hee said, “We will actively promote the project to complete Amsa History Park early, providing residents with a historical and cultural experience space where history comes alive and a pleasant park,” adding, “Once linked with the nearby Amsa Green Path and the eco-friendly Han River development project such as the skywalk are completed, it will become one of Seoul’s representative landmarks.”
