[Asia Economy Reporter Hwang Yoon-joo] On the 4th, rival candidates expressed critical reactions in unison to Kim Ki-hyun, a People Power Party presidential candidate, who proposed joining forces by visiting former lawmaker Na Kyung-won, who had declared she would not run.

Candidate Ahn Cheol-soo, after attending a Goyang-jeong Party Committee event at Ilsan Seo-gu Office in Gyeonggi Province that day, responded to related questions from reporters, saying, "Didn't former lawmaker Na say she needed some rest?" and added, "So I was a bit curious whether they had made a prior agreement." He further said, "I hope former lawmaker Na first takes care of her body and mind, and then thinks about party matters."

When asked if he was negotiating an alliance with former lawmaker Na, he replied, "She asked for some time, so I am currently waiting."

Candidate Cheon Ha-ram shared a scene from the Netflix drama 'The Glory,' which deals with school violence, on SNS that day, writing, "Candidate Kim Ki-hyun, please stop the behavior of the school violence perpetrator." Cheon, the chairman of the Suncheon-gap Party Committee in Jeollanam-do, is classified as a pro-Lee Jun-seok faction candidate in this party leadership race.

Cheon wrote, "When did you make former lawmaker Na Kyung-won a victim of school violence, and now you want to join forces for the classroom atmosphere?"

Earlier, candidate Kim Ki-hyun posted on SNS that he visited former lawmaker Na's house the previous day and met her, saying, "Let's join forces for the success of the Yoon Seok-yeol government and victory in next year's general election." Former lawmaker Na responded, "I will contemplate the role I must play as an 'eternal party member' for the success of the Yoon Seok-yeol government and next year's general election victory," he conveyed.

Along with this, opposition currents against the pro-Yoon faction, which openly supports candidate Kim, also stood out.

Candidate Ahn, who is under concentrated attack from the pro-Yoon faction, was asked, "Do you think there is no Yoon-sim (Yoon's heart) in the pro-Yoon faction?" He dismissed it, saying, "President Yoon Seok-yeol himself issued a public statement. He said there is no 'Yoon-sim.'"

This is understood to refer to a senior official from the presidential office who expressed a principled stance on June 2nd, saying they are "watching the People Power Party leadership race neutrally."

Candidate Yoon Sang-hyun named key pro-Yoon faction figures, lawmakers Lee Cheol-gyu and Park Soo-young, on SNS, arguing that "illegal interference in the party leader election must be severely punished." Yoon pointed out, "Our party's regulations clearly state that incumbent lawmakers and party committee chairpersons cannot campaign for the party leader election."

He particularly urged referring Park to the party ethics committee, saying, "Park said, '100% of Yoon-sim is with lawmaker Kim Ki-hyun,' to boost support for candidate Kim. This is unacceptable." He also insisted that a "strong warning" is necessary for Lee.

Candidate Cheon, in an SNS post sharing his impressions from a campaign visit to Daegu the previous day, said, "The most frequently heard remarks while meeting citizens until 3 a.m. were, 'First, I hate seeing Yoon core members,' and 'Second, I hope Representative Lee Jae-myung gets arrested soon.'" He added, "Yoon core members and Lee Jae-myung have become each other's reflections, forming a cartel of mutual dislike competition."

He continued, "No politician or power holder can overcome the huge wave of public sentiment," and said, "As the citizens wish, I will show the Yoon core members a lesson. This time, I will drive them out of the People Power Party completely."
