[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Shin Dong-ho] Seo-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City is accelerating the creation of a carbon-neutral practice culture.
Seo-gu announced on the 3rd that it will promote the climate action project Sseudam Sseudam (Write and Store, Write and Store) throughout February.
The theme of February's climate action is 'Now, Be Brave,' and various education, campaigns, and promotional activities will be carried out to encourage the use of reusable containers in daily life and to practice resource circulation.
Seo-gu will conduct theoretical education using the Ministry of Environment's YouTube videos and environmental fairy tales, as well as shopping experience activities targeting daycare centers in the district. At the same time, a challenge will be held to encourage restaurants, coffee shops, and bakeries to attach 'Welcome to Bring Your Own Container' and reduce disposable items stickers inside their stores.
To encourage citizen participation, promotional activities and certification events for participating stores will also be held on Seo-gu's homepage and SNS.
In addition, the '9 Ways to Save the Earth through Resource Circulation' will be promoted, and an image exhibition using discarded banners will be held in the underground space of the Chipyeong-dong Administrative Welfare Center.
Seo-gu's monthly climate action project, which has been promoted since June last year, has been recognized as an excellent local government for carbon neutrality activation by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety in 2022, receiving the Prime Minister's Commendation, and is attracting attention as a leading practical project.
A Seo-gu official said, "Through the monthly climate action project, we will spread the consensus on carbon neutrality within the Seo-gu area," and added, "We hope that all 290,000 Seo-gu residents will actively participate in practicing carbon neutrality in their daily lives."
