2023 Social Welfare Budget Allocated 2.2702 Trillion Won
[Asia Economy Reporter La Young-cheol] Gangwon Province announced on the 19th that it ranked first nationwide among 17 metropolitan local governments with a social welfare budget of 2.14 million won per resident.
According to an analysis of the 2022 local finance integrated disclosure data released on 'Local Finance 365,' last year Gangwon Province was the first in the country to focus on projects responding to the low birthrate and super-aged society, such as basic childcare allowance support (162.9 billion won), childcare facility support (356.1 billion won), and basic pension support (791.7 billion won).
Accordingly, this year the province plans to appropriately allocate and promote the social welfare budget (2.2702 trillion won) including creating a child-friendly environment (254.2 billion won), expanding the guarantee of children's rights (22.7 billion won), strengthening welfare for the disabled (188.3 billion won), ensuring a healthy and vibrant old age (1.0147 trillion won), and first-class veterans’ care with full responsibility (12.9 billion won).
Kim Jin-tae, Governor of Gangwon Province, stated, "Welfare is a measure of happiness directly linked to the quality of life of residents," and added, "We will do our best to build a thicker and more detailed welfare network for the happy lives of all residents."
