[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Koo Dae-sun] Yeungnam University announced on the 12th that the ‘Hanol BioPharma National Pharmacy Students Idea Contest,’ first held by Hanol BioPharma, a pharmaceutical research and manufacturing specialized company, awarded the grand prize to the ‘Hanttam’ team consisting of Yeungnam University College of Pharmacy fifth-year students Song Hae-rin and Shin Ji-hyun.
This contest was organized to discover creative ideas from pharmacy majors regarding the direction companies should pursue to strengthen global competitiveness as a new drug development specialized company, focusing on open collaboration, introducing new drugs they want to develop, and the values global bio companies should pursue.
Yeungnam University students submitted a proposal titled ‘Hanol Care Proposal for Rare and Intractable Diseases’ under the theme of open collaboration, presenting the direction and strategies companies should aim for, earning the prestigious grand prize. The idea development process, from disease diagnosis to new drug development and treatment, included deep consideration to resolve difficulties faced by patients with rare and intractable diseases, receiving high praise. The two students who won the grand prize are granted the opportunity to participate in a 5-night, 6-day local tour camp in the United States, where global bio companies are located.
Earlier, in the ‘2nd Daily Pharm Pharmacy Students Content Contest,’ Yeungnam University College of Pharmacy fifth-year students Kim Sang-wan and Son Sang-ah received the excellence award. Their work, titled ‘Pharmacy Student Sang-sang’s Future Pharmacy Exploration,’ depicted the future pharmacy and pharmacist through a webtoon, receiving favorable evaluations. The work offers a glimpse into the roles of future pharmacists and pharmacies, including counseling pharmacies, smart pharmacies, and healing pharmacies.
Kim Jong-oh, Dean of Yeungnam University College of Pharmacy, said, “Yeungnam University pharmacy students are recognized for their creativity with fresh ideas. We will actively support their growth into pharmacy talents with creative and original capabilities not only in major knowledge but also in various fields through Yeungnam University College of Pharmacy’s differentiated education and research curriculum.”
